Capoeira is a Brazilian art form that combines elements of martial arts, sports, and music. It was created in Brazil mainly by descendants of African slaves with Brazilian native influences, probably beginning in the 16th century. It is known by quick and complex moves, using mainly power kicks and quick leg sweeps, with some ground and aerial acrobatics, knee strikes, take-downs, elbow strikes, punches and head butts.
Urban Kings is one of a few London facilities that teach Capoeira with a specialist and experienced trainer. Train in a friendly, lively and welcoming environment, whatever your level of skill.
What to Expect
All classes begin with a warm up and stretching. After this, the class divides up to give absolute beginners the special attention they need to learn the very basics of capoeira. Movements and sequences of movements are trained both individually and with partners. Then, at the end of class, we finish up with a roda, where capoeira is traditionally played. This is where we clap, make music, show off our new moves, and have a great time!
Capoeira for Beginners
No one, in any class, is required to do anything, and working out at your own pace is critical. Nothing is worse than starting a new routine too quickly. Doing capoeira is about self-expression, and training capoeira is about self-development. Take it slow: capoeira is guaranteed to give you positive results.
